Open Roles
Here you can find the employment opportunities at Edwards & Associates, PC.
Senior Tax Associate
About the Role
Edwards & Associates, PC is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our growing dental-focused accounting firm. This role is ideal for someone with 2-4 years of public accounting experience who enjoys variety, learns quickly, communicates effectively, and is eager to grow into a long-term tax advisory role.
You will work directly with experienced managers, strengthen your tax preparation and review skills, and eventually interface with our clients (primarily dentists) to identify planning opportunities. This position is important; think of it as the assistant to the assistant to the Tax Manager, with plenty of room to develop into a more senior advisory role as the firm continues to grow.
What You’ll DoÂ
- Tax Preparation & Review
-
- Prepare and review individual (1040) tax returns for dental clients during your first 90 days.
- Expand into preparing entity returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065) with support and training.
- Prepare state tax returns, including sales tax, business personal property (BPP), and other state filings.
- Assist in identifying and implementing tax planning and tax-saving strategies for clients.
- Technical & Software Responsibilities
-
- Develop and maintain proficiency in Lacerte tax software (primary tax platform).
- Use Excel to prepare workpapers, analyze data, and support tax review.
- Perform light accounting or cleanup work in QuickBooks Online, especially during periods when tax volume dips.
- Assist with setting up accounting systems and maintaining accurate client records.
- Client Service & Workflow Management
-
- Meet deadlines under pressure while keeping work organized and communicating proactively.
- When ready, communicate directly with dental clients, helping identify tax or advisory opportunities.
- Support internal team members with questions, research, and issue spotting—not just task completion.
Who You Are
- A strong tax preparer with 2-4 years of recent public accounting experience.
- Experienced with 1120-S and 1065 returns, or with complex 1040s (high-net-worth, multi-state, etc.).
- An independent thinker who notices patterns, flags concerns, and speaks up with solutions.
- Someone who enjoys variety, learns quickly, and communicates well across teams.
- A culture fit: collaborative, self-managed, low-drama, and comfortable in a quieter work environment.
- Someone who wants meaningful work, not a “work is my social life” environment.Â
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required): Finance degrees do not meet the requirement.
- Master’s in accounting or taxation preferred.
- CPA license, CPA-eligible, or actively pursuing CPA certification.
- Strong understanding of tax fundamentals, workpaper preparation, and accounting workflows.
- Experience with Lacerte and QuickBooks Online is a plus; willingness to learn is essential.
Compensation
- Salary: $75,000–$103,000, depending on experience, credentials, and scope.
- Competitive benefits package.
